Romney staff incompetent?

Brad DeLong thinks Romney's staff is incompetent:  It would be straightforward to provide Romney with a reasonable story to tell about his economic vision.  Vitus thinks DeLong's point is as usual well made but misses the essence of Romneyism.
---
Romney et. al. think that there is not one of the fuzzy-brained libs who could come up with even a minimally realistic forecast or projection, given that said libs are so fuzzy-brained.  Said libs lack drive and ability; they don't know how the world works; their "analysis" is/are therefore peremptorily to be ignored, even derided.  Romney, et. al., are, per Mr. Galt, existentially on strike against the creed of unearned rewards and unrewarded duties. They don't need us.

The whole exercise of the campaign is to the Romneyites like a company monthly meeting.  Vitus thinks Romney must have been pretty good at company meetings.  Show up; project a serious but open demeanor; say some things vaguely related to the business at hand.  Same thing with questions from the troops.  You/Romney, the leader, are draped in the aura of money made and power held. The troops obtain their living from the simple fact that, as Neo would say, they are there and you are there.  That's why you can get away with saying most anything.  Trust us on this.  Been there, done that.

Mr. Romney, may, hopefully, be on the verge of discovering that you can't fool all the people all the time.

Mr. Galt will be a bit taken aback:  The fact of the matter is:  We don't need -them-.
